Have you ever been out camping, hiking, or backpacking when things turn in an instant?

Dark clouds race in from all sides, hungry winds start ripping at your jacket and pants, stinging rain drops begin pelting down like they’ve been trapped in the skies for years. All in a moment- the wind thieves away your tent, stakes spring out of the ground like hot popcorn kernels and your lightweight hiking pants are suddenly papier-mâchéd to your thighs. Your $200 bed mat floats by in a river of gear, a mudslide, and, oh yeah, your tears.

If that’s ever been you, Mohab’s founder, Panger Ye, can relate. He’d lived through his own version of that storm, and when his rooftop tent shredded itself in the wind, his engineering brain lit up: “I can do better than this.” He then called on his colleague, Pat Dougherty, who had just returned from working in China for several years and was ready to ride off into the retirement sunset. Panger had an idea; Patrick had 38 years of automotive experience, and together they began building Mohab.
