Push the Button, Wherever You Gather: Mohab Meets Three New Communities

Mohab started with a storm. In 2020, our founder's rooftop tent soaked through, flexed, and tore on a remote trail, and he spent the rest of the night in the driver's seat. That night became the idea behind everything we build: push the button, and in under 60 seconds you have a shelter that stands up to whatever the weather brings.

As our founder puts it: "We can't control the elements. But we can create and control our own habitat."

This fall, that idea is reaching some new corners of the outdoors. Hunters, Jeep owners, and Cybertruck drivers don't always share a campfire, but they share a lot: long drives to remote places, nights that get colder than forecast, and a deep appreciation for gear that just works. Here's where we've been showing up, and what we've been hearing.

For the hunters: as featured on RMEF.org

Few people know cold, early, remote mornings like the hunting community. Our story, "Zero to Basecamp in 60 Seconds: Meet Mohab," is now featured on RMEF.org.

The feature walks through the full Mohab system: the ALTUS powered hardwall rooftop cabin, FORTIS racks that mount without drilling, the PROVIS kitchen, RIVO water with an outdoor shower, the TECTRA 270-degree awning, GRADA powered steps, and ORDO storage. Every piece is designed to deploy together, so after a long day in the field, camp is ready when you are.

For the Jeep crowd: JL Wrangler Forums

We joined the JL Wrangler Forums to introduce the ALTUS to Wrangler owners, using a full basecamp build on our own 2023 Jeep Sahara.

The community did what good communities do: it asked hard questions. One of the first was about weight, since the ALTUS is heavier than a typical soft-shell rooftop tent. It's a fair question with a straight answer. The ALTUS isn't a tent. It's a cabin, built with hardwalls, an aluminum frame, an electric open-and-close mechanism, and a 270-degree camera system. It sits somewhere between a soft-sided tent and a pop-up camper, and the right vehicle setup matters. Our own Sahara runs a heavier-duty suspension kit for exactly that reason.

Those are the conversations we're here for.

For the Cybertruck owners: Cybertruck Owners Club

On the Cybertruck Owners Club, we started something a little different: "Discover What's Out There," a corner of the forum focused on the overnight experience itself. Not spec sheets or gear comparisons, but the weather, the sleep, the kitchen, the water, and the first light at dawn.

The early stories have been great. One owner checked in after his first night in an ALTUS, noting that it felt quieter and more secure than canvas, and that he's already planning snow camping in Colorado. Our own team shared four days in Montana with 100°F afternoons and windy 50°F nights, kept comfortable with an A/C and heat unit.

The community has also been shaping what's next. When owners asked about a pass-through option to enter the cabin from the truck bed, we shared that a pass-through design is in prototyping for structural testing.

Why we're showing up

We build gear for people who go places. The best way to learn what those people need is to spend time where they already are: on the forums, in the field, and around the tailgate. Every question about weight, every first-night story, and every feature request makes what we build better.

So keep them coming. Push the button to adventure. To solitude. To the view you drove all day to find. And tell us how it went.

Come push the button yourself

Want to see an ALTUS in person? Find us at Overland Expo East, booth T14, Oct 23–25 at Oak Ridge Estate in Arrington, VA. Then on Nov 3, we're unveiling something new at SEMA in Las Vegas. Follow @gomohab_us so you don't miss the reveal.

You can also find a Mohab dealer near you to see the cabins up close.
